Food and Nutrition
This one-year course provides an introduction to the study of basic food preparation and
nutrition. Areas of emphasis include food choices and dietary guidelines. Students plan and
prepare meals using basic principles of sanitation and safety. Instructional practices incorporate
integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important
contributions to our society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course.
This course fulfills one elective credit required for high school graduation.
